06.26.26 | Voicemails for Isabelle
5-word review: Heart, adorability, waived red flags.
06.25.26 | Standard Service + Limoncello
click for video
My sister always finds all the good spots to enjoy a meal or treat. Today she took me to Standard Service (which I have long misheard as “Sandwich Service”) to try their Limoncello (a drink I’d never tried before). Everything we tried was delicious, and the vibes were sunny and chill. I’ll definitely return.
06.24.26 | DQ Ice Cream Cupcake
Y’all, did you know that Dairy Queen sells ice cream cupcakes? I tried one with my sister today, and it was such a nice treat. Full disclosure - it’s not quite like an ice cream cake, but the layers are enjoyable enough.
06.23.26 | ADHD is Awesome (Book)
Okay, the day got away from me, but first-time reads are still new!
This book left me with some good insights, some unanswered questions, and a lot of mixed emotions. I picked it up because I want to better understand all kinds of people, and especially because I want to better understand my students with ADHD. I think — or at least hope — it helped some, but boy howdy, did it leave me feeling overwhelmed.
06.22.26 | Unwrapping a Blind Book Date

I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of a blind book date. Today I gave it a shot. Loved the surprise, but not the book selection. Still deciding whether to read it…
06.19.26 | Blue Coconut Matcha
Not bad. Better if that blue coconut flavor was incorporated all the way through. I wish the foam was more accessible than decorative.
06.18.26 | Remarkably Bright Creatures (Film)
5-word Review: Sweet, but lost some heart.
Speaking as a viewer who read the book first.
06.17.26 | Notting Hill
5-word Review: Newspapers? Ha! Try social media.
06.16.26 | Homebuying Class
My friend, Laura, is a realtor, and tonight I had the opportunity to attend a class her company offers for new (or out-of-practice) homebuyers and sellers. As a single lady living on a mere teacher’s salary, I’m not quite in the market yet, but I learned a whole lot, and it will help me start thinking about my future home in a way that I haven’t yet. The biggest takeaway was that homebuying is an overwhelming undertaking. 😅
06.15.26 | Foot Mask
I'm always up for a DIY spa treatment. It's usually much kinder to my wallet. I'd never tried a foot peel before, and honestly, after reading the reviews, the photos were a little startling. 😅 I'll spare you those, but I'll happily report back with the results.
06.14.26 | Cherry Chocolate Cupcake M&Ms
An impulse aisle find. Just meh.
06.13.26 | Peach Cobbler Bundtlet
This summer flavor looked more enticing than it turned out to be. It was a nice departure from the norm, but ultimately fell a bit flat. I think it could have been much better with more graham cracker crust at the bottom and incorporating the peach throughout the cake or icing instead of saving it for the garnish. The icing also seemed lighter than usual, almost as if the peaches were meant to make up the difference.
Ummm... It's a bundt cake. We need all the icing.
06.12.26 | The Wedding Planner
5-word review: Omg - is that Alex Karev?!
I’ve decided that this summer is a summer for RomComs. I’m watching old favs and catching up on several classics that I haven’t seen before. Old movies make for great something-news.
06.11.26 | Taro Balls
click for video
Dinner with my aunt and my cousins at one of their favorite Richardson spots, First Emperor. Tonight we all tried something new - a fried taro dough treat listed among the dim sum. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a fun surprise. The outer layer is different from most fried foods. When I looked into it, some described it as a spider-webbed or honeycomb structure. Definitely worth a try.
06.10.26 | Southern roasted pecan Pretzels
This brand of pretzels appeared at Target maybe in the last year or so, and I think they’re a fun departure from the standard chocolate-covered pretzel. The coating is pleasant; the pretzel underneath is pretty average, but after giving it a shot, I find that the addition of pecans is just plain unnecessary. I suppose somebody somewhere might enjoy it…
06.09.26 | Sweet & Fiery Gushers
click for video
Good grief! These were definitely more fiery than sweet. The watermelon and mango flavors are delightful. The fiery part, not so much…
06.08.26 | Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza
Birthday dinner at Spin, because I can’t get enough of this place (tasty food, but even lovelier vibes). Tonight I tried the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza. I don’t typically go for chicken on pizza, but I’m glad I did today. The chicken is okay, and you can’t go wrong with bacon, but the housemade ranch is the real hit - delicious!
Today marks the first anniversary of my mission to try something new every day. It started as a reflective birthday wish, and it has grown into a wonderful work in progress. The daily part of the challenge is hard, especially during the school year, but it has been good, fun, and growing.
04.04.26 | Swig + birthday girl
We recently got a Swig in my neighborhood, so I figured I'd give it a try. As it happened, the franchise was celebrating its "Sweet 16," which made it easy to choose a drink. The "Birthday Girl" is pretty sweet, combining Dr. Pepper with some of my favorite flavors—coconut and mango—along with a couple of unexpected additions: blackberry and raspberry. I never would have thought to put those together, but it works!
04.12.26 Ramyeon Fries
Tried McDonald’s x Hunrtix Ramyeon fries today. What a golden crossover - a fun take on the best fries.
04.05.26 | Paris Baguette
Finally gave Paris Baguette a try. It’s giving 85°C Bakery Cafe, but Ameri-Parisian. The drink was meh at best (I can’t even recall what I had), but these mini croissants - Strawberry Lemon Cream, and especially the garlic one - were delightful. The garlic croissants are only sold in sets of six, which is cute, but I’ll allow it.
