Tiny adventures so far: 103
07.11.26 | Boothin’ @ Christmas in July Market
07.10.26 | Boho Market @ Cityline
Typically, when I go to craft markets, I look for cute, handmade earrings. Alas, I did not find what I was looking for, but there were several other craft items available, and the vibe was vibing…
07.06.26 | Garland DMV
Okay - hear me out - this location granted me the best DMV experience I have ever had. No long lines or wait times. No overcrowded waiting area. No slow and grumpy associates. Instead, they served up scheduled appointments, plenty of seating room, and quick and friendly customer service. Amahzing.
06.28.26 | Pho @ Saigon Block

This was my first guided experience of pho. The first time I had it with my family (way back in high school), we had no idea how it was meant to be experienced. We were confused at the non-assembly of the soup, and especially the raw meat. We learned something new that night. 😅
This time around, my friend Devra invited me to join her at Saigon Block to try Vietnamese food, and I tried pho again - the right way. I also tried a few other bites as well, and it was all very enjoyable.
06.25.26 | Standard Service + Limoncello

My sister always finds all the good spots to enjoy a meal or treat. Today she took me to Standard Service (which I have long misheard as “Sandwich Service”) to try their Limoncello (a drink I’d never tried before). Everything we tried was delicious, and the vibes were sunny and chill. I’ll definitely return.
06.11.26 | Taro Balls

Dinner with my aunt and my cousins at one of their favorite Richardson spots, First Emperor. Tonight we all tried something new - a fried taro dough treat listed among the dim sum. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a fun surprise. The outer layer is different from most fried foods. When I looked into it, some described it as a spider-webbed or honeycomb structure. Definitely worth a try.
06.08.26 | Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza
Birthday dinner at Spin, because I can’t get enough of this place (tasty food, but even lovelier vibes). Tonight I tried the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza. I don’t typically go for chicken on pizza, but I’m glad I did today. The chicken is okay, and you can’t go wrong with bacon, but the housemade ranch is the real hit - delicious!
Today marks the first anniversary of my mission to try something new every day. It started as a reflective birthday wish, and it has grown into a wonderful work in progress. The daily part of the challenge is hard, especially during the school year, but it has been good, fun, and growing.
04.04.26 | Swig + birthday girl
We recently got a Swig in my neighborhood, so I figured I'd give it a try. As it happened, the franchise was celebrating its "Sweet 16," which made it easy to choose a drink. The "Birthday Girl" is pretty sweet, combining Dr. Pepper with some of my favorite flavors—coconut and mango—along with a couple of unexpected additions: blackberry and raspberry. I never would have thought to put those together, but it works!
03.17.26 | Sugar & Sage Orange Lavender Refresh
I hate driving to Sugar & Sage, but I love eating there. My sister, Kerissa, was kind enough to drive us both and treat me to breakfast. I wish my favs weren’t seasonal, and I was disappointed that I didn’t find the jalapeño cheddar sausage pastry that I was craving, but the pastries we did find were also delicious. The real showstopper today was this orange lavender drink - 10 out of 10 would recommend.
12.30.25 | Taqueria & Tamaleria Nuevo León
I eat tacos (or maybe “tacos”) pretty often, but this is my first proper taqueria plate. My friend, Devra, invited me to do lunch at Taqueria & Tamaleria Nuevo León, and it was a fun, rather different taco experience. The load of onions and cilantro went mostly untouched, because that is not my jam (I did try a couple of onions on one taco, to honor the plate as it was served). I learned the difference between carne asada and barbacoa, and finally learned what the red meat is (trompo, spit-roasted shaved pork), though I’m still not sure why it’s so red.
12.20.25 | Snake!
I am not an animal person, and I am certainly not a snake person, but I try to be a brave and adventurous person, so today, I did a thing I thought I’d never do. After a fabulous morning trail ride at Cathy’s Critters, my friends and I explored the interesting little zoo and came across this golden opportunity to try something new.
07.22.25 | Lockwood Flight
One of the best things about trying something new every day is the opportunity to try things again and to make a habit out of what was new. Tonight I returned to Lockwood for trivia night, and this time I brought a team. My friends and I cashed in on my trivia prize from last time and shared the Lockwood Flight. My ranking of the included drinks is as follows: 1.) Bourbon Cream, 2.) Honeysuckle Vodka *not typically included, but the usual Vodka was not available, 3.) Hibiscus Vodka, and 4.) Texas Gin, which I personally did not actually like at all (though one of my friends ranked it first - so, ya know - to each his own). We had a great time and did relatively well on trivia. We plan to return and bring that score up next time.
07.20.25 | Fable & Fire, Bookshop Bistro

Brunch with my besties. We took a little joyride to this very cute bistro in Rockwall. 10/10 vibes.
07.03.25 | Partenope Ristorante
I’ve been hearing about this restaurant for well over a year, since we got one in Richardson. Today I finally went, and I was not disappointed. I had the Penne Di Parmigiano e Funghi with chicken (an upcharge) for lunch, and the Torta Pistacchio e Ricotta for dessert. Delicious. And the ambience was perfect - quiet, cozy, aesthetic - even the bathroom (the tile floor in there is gorgeous). Partenope is officially on my Richardson Lovelist.
06.30.25 | Potter's Wheel

Tried Adult Wheel Night at Quiggly’s Clay House. One of the best things I've tried so far. Hadn't thrown on the potter's wheel since high school, and it was just as enjoyable as I remembered. Already looking forward to next time.
06.26.25 | Sushi Tacos @ Oishii
Sushi tacos are a level of food creativity I didn’t know I needed. My sister introduced me to them at a restaurant in her distant neck of the woods (Forney). Honestly, on the right day, I’d make the trip just for this delicious dish from Oishii Ramen & Bar.
06.25.25 | Adventure Challenge Book

Finally tried a few challenges from my Adventure Challenge book, which I bought in January of this year. In my defense, I’m a teacher; I work 12-hour days, and I was wrapping up my MFA. Now that I have some time back, I can’t wait to dig into more adventures.
06.24.25 | Trivia Night @ Lockwood
Tried my first trivia night tonight at Lockwood I was a little nervous about going it alone, but I had a great time, and I managed to win a prize, even though I didn't earn the highest score. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday night. Thanks for a fun time @lockwooddistillingco!
06.17.25 | FCG's Lobster & Shrimp Grilled Cheese
click for video
My sister and I decided on Lobster & Shrimp Grilled Cheese at Fish City Grill. It comes with cheddar, jack, American, queso blanco, thick-cut bacon, sriracha, and green onions on grilled sourdough. Why did it take us so long to try this? Delicious. We also tried the FCG Sampler, which includes calamari, fried pickles, shrimp, and crab queso. No notes. Except maybe, please include more chips for that queso…
06.17.25 | Hosting My First Poetry Workshop
I hosted my first poetry workshop at Bibliobar tonight. We learned a little and played a lot. There were moments of laughter and moments of reflection. Ah, poetry. 💕 Looking forward to the next time.
